Thai Airways launches Carbon Offset Programme

Thai Airways International launched a Carbon Offset Programme with IATA to provide customers with the opportunity to viturally offset carbon emissions generated from flying.

The IATA programme calculates the carbon emissions based on a methodology developed by the International Civil Aviation Organization. The system utilizes IATA’s long-established financial system to enable airlines and their customers to purchase ticket and offset at the same time.

China Airlines Expanding Cargo Routes to China

China Airlines has launched three new all-cargo routes linking Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport with Xiamen, Nanjing and Fuzhou.

The new weekly cargo route to Xiamen started on 4 September 2010, while the new weekly service to Nanjing will begin on 11 September. The twice-weekly Taoyuan - Fuzhou cargo service will be launched at the end of September. These new cargo flights are expected to mostly transport electronic goods, textiles and shoes.

bmi has launched Economy and Business Class Promotion

bmi launches a promotion with substantial savings on both its economy, and business class fares.

The sale includes flights to Beirut, to which bmi will begin a second daily service from London Heathrow next March at the start of the summer 2011 season. The new service, which will be operated on an Airbus A321 aircraft, complements bmi's existing daily service.

Ngurah Rai airport to get Rp 2 trillion face-lift

State-owned airport operator PT Angkasa Pura I said it will spend Rp 2 trillion (USD 224 million) to renovate Bali’s Ngurah Rai International Airport to improve service to domestic and international travelers.

Speaking to reporters in Kuta, Bali, on Thursday, president director Tommy Soetomo said the company would construct a new, 126,000 square meter terminal designated for international flights.
